A BIT ABOUT ME

Kelsey Harris, MA, RCC (#19120), RYT-200

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellor. I graduated with my Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2021. I made a career change in my thirties, and before I worked in film and retail. My own life experiences made me passionate about mental health, wellness and the mind-body connection. I have lived experience with chronic pain and illness, which is why I'm passionate about this work and looking at health holistically through a biopsychosocial lens.

I believe in collaborative, holistic, trauma-informed counselling. I specialize in chronic pain, chronic illness, concussion, and also work with clients who have anxiety, depression, postpartum anxiety/depression, caregiver burnout, life stress, and dealing with life transitions. My primary therapeutic modality is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is a "third-wave" Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that has a large evidence base as being helpful for many concerns. I also integrate elements of somatic therapy, polyvagal theory, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, yoga and mindfulness depending on what you need. I'm a registered yoga teacher (200 hour) and find it can have many therapeutic benefits for chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and trauma. In counselling we set goals together to help you get what you would like out of the process.

I have experience working in community mental health with the Interior Health Agency as a practicum student. I have volunteered at Kids Help Phone as a crisis text responder, I have volunteered at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, ON as a Child Life Specialist, and as a Ladies Chat Night Facilitator with the Rainbow Resource Centre in Winnipeg. I am also Mental Health First Aid Certified.

In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking. I am passionate about traveling and exploration. My hobbies include writing, podcasting, watching movies, and playing the piano.
